SunQuest Cruises SOLARIS is pleased to announce its selection as a 2017 “Best of Wedding and Reception Venue” winner, a special section featured on The Knot’s Web site. Winners represent the top one percent of reviews from recently married couples. This is the eighth consecutive year SunQuest Cruises SOLARIS has been voted the winner of The Knot “Best of Weddings” for its yacht venue. In addition, the SOLARIS was inducted into The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame a few years ago.

“This award is significant to us because it’s a direct result of reviews from our recent brides and grooms,” stated James Murray, General Manager for SOLARIS. “We take great pride in providing our couples with the most valuable, stress-free and memorable wedding experience.”

The 2017 “Best of Weddings” award recipients represent the best- and most-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on The Knot. This year, a select group of 5,500 local wedding professionals – representing two percent of Knot wedding professionals – received the distinguished accolade.

As the area’s only dining and entertainment yacht, SunQuest Cruises SOLARIS was built specifically with Destin weddings in mind. All Destin wedding packages include a full-time wedding planner who has worked with couples from across the country from planning to the execution. The open-air, sky deck features a bridal platform where couples can say their vows in a private, majestic setting while cruising into the sunset and enjoying unlimited views. Brides enjoy the private bridal suite as a secluded, serene space to enjoy with friends and family before the big moment. The 125 foot yacht also includes three decks of indoor and outdoor spaces, offering a weather-proof venue.

One SOLARIS bride wrote: “I chose the Solaris yacht for my Ceremony and Reception venue in Destin and it was absolutely beautiful. The whole process was so easy and stress free thanks to their wedding planner Kristi, she communicated with me through email and phone the entire year before the big day and met with me the week of to go over last minute details. The Solaris staff made everything look so effortless and everything came out perfect!”

The SOLARIS’ ideal location at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort provides couples with a convenient, all-inclusive experience for them and their guests that includes a variety of accommodation, transportation and entertainment options in one venue.

“Planning a destination wedding can be stressful if you don’t live near the location,” stated Kristi Adkinson, SOLARIS wedding planner. “We go above and beyond to make sure every wish and need is met by staying in constant contact and serving as a trusted, local resource our couples can count on.”

Destin Weddings 2016 – Diane and Kevin

We’re ending the year with another amazing Destin destination wedding on the SOLARIS Yacht venue in Sandestin. Our wedding planners were thrilled to meet Diane and Kevin and help them plan their dream wedding on the SOLARIS yacht right before Christmas.

Here’s their touching story of how they met and their engagement as told by Diane:

We met using Match.com. I knew by his pictures because he had a beard, he was tall/dark/handsome, he had a brown dog, and he loved the outdoors, it definitely meant I needed to meet him.

Our first date was at the Bluegill Restaurant on the Causeway, and he wore a white button down shirt and blue jeans. I wore a blue floral sundress that he told me he really liked. The date went well where we became acquainted, and since I told him my first day of orientation at my new job was the next day, he said he’d get me home early.

After that, we had a second date in downtown Fairhope, where we stayed out late and met a bunch of his friends who also happened to be out and about. It then started with dinners at his house, where he liked to cook for me fish he had caught and vegetables he had grown. It progressed quickly to spending every evening together, where we came to the realization that we were more alike than we could have ever thought.

It quickly dawned on me that this was who I had needed all along and that I was in love.
We have enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, and spending even the most mundane of days together. We are proud that together we have added fruiting trees to our yard and have nurtured a garden (pictured below) inspired by his late Grand Daddy.

In October after work one day, Kevin took me through our recently turned over garden that we had spent some of that weekend working on, telling me that we do such a great job working as partners. After walking slowly through the garden for some time admiring our hard work by flashlight, he took me between the house and garden and faced me. He told me how much he loves me and how happy he is. He told me that we make good partners and I agreed.

He continued by saying that much like a good marriage, working in the garden requires weeding, hard work, and working together. He then began to kneel, getting down on his knee, held my hands, and asked “…I was wondering, will you be my partner forever?”

Congrats again to Kevin and Diane – we can’t wait for the BIG day to celebrate your love for each other.
